Elaine Thompson es la nueva reina del atletismo en los 100 metros planos

La jamaicana Elaine Thompson se consagró con el oro en los 100 metros de los Juegos de Rio-2016, mientras que su compatriota Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, que buscaba ser la primera mujer de la historia en lograr tres títulos seguidos en una prueba, se tuvo que conformar con el bronce.

Thompson, de 24 años, logró un tiempo de 10.71, a una centésima de su mejor marca de la temporada, superando a la estadounidense Tori Bowie (10.83) y a Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (10.86).
