Filipinas: Asesinan a tiros a un periodista en Manila

MANILA.- El reportero filipino Alex Balcoba, del periódico Bridaga murió anoche en Manila por disparos de un desconocido, en un nuevo caso en el país, uno de los más peligrosos del mundo para periodistas, informó hoy la prensa local.

El suceso ocurrió en una calle del distrito de Quiapo de la capital cuando la víctima recibió un disparo a la cabeza mientras hablaba por teléfono, según dijo el inspector jefe de la Policía John Guiagui, a la emisora DzBB.

La Policía investiga el suceso y la identidad del asesino, que huyó del lugar de los hechos en una motocicleta.

Los asesinatos de periodistas filipinos que critican a políticos locales o investigan asuntos de corrupción son frecuentes en el país asiático.

En 2015 siete periodistas fueron asesinados en Filipinas, según la Federación Internacional de Periodistas (FIP) que en su último informe situó al país asiático como el segundo con más reporteros asesinados desde 1990, sólo por detrás de Irak.
